Football recruiting is down to the wire and, with its conference high 6 bowl wins; the SEC is in the thick of it. Colleges are honing their prospect lists and trying to seal the deals that will give their teams the razor-sharp edge it takes to win in the SEC. Players are weighing their options and looking for an opportunity to be the next "it" man in college football. And fans continue to ride the roller coaster that is recruiting season while they eagerly await the final results and pre-season rankings.

LSU currently leads both the SEC and the nation on the recruiting scoreboard with 15 of its 21 commits ranking in the 4 & 5 star categories. In total, the SEC currently has 4 teams in the top 10 recruiting rankings and a total of 7 in the top 25. The intensity of the process is ratcheted up more than a notch or two and that will continue right up to signing day.

And two - Four and five star players often don’t prove to be the superstars in college they were in high school. Whether you’ll be doing the Gator Chomp, singing Rocky Top or having the ultimate tailgate experience in "The Grove", it promises to be another exciting year for football fans in the SEC. Let’s all get ready for the Football Season.

College Football News and Recruiting Info

One of the most popular games in the United States today is known as American football, which has its origins in college football. Many students follow the latest college football news and participate in college football polls. Many likewise participate in try outs for a chance to play in college teams.

The goal is to score points by getting the ball into the opposing team’s court, or end zone. The team who does this gets a touchdown, which is worth 6 points. After a touchdown, the team is afforded the chance to kick the ball through the goal posts to get an extra point. However, they also have the option of trying to get the ball into the opponent’s end zone again by using a running or passing play instead of kicking the ball. If this works, they get two more points instead of just one. This option is much harder, of course.

A field goal is worth is worth 3 points.

The football field measures 100 yards in length and 160 feet in width. The middle of the field is known as the 50 yard line. The lines are marked every 10 yards in descending order in both directions from the 50 yard line. Each team has half of the field, (switching sides every 15 minutes of play. The "zero yard line" is also called the goal line. The areas on either side are called the end zones. Both teams endeavor to get the ball beyond the opponent’s goal line and into the end zone to score a touchdown. Located at far edge of each end zone are the goal posts. These are used whenever a team decides to kick a field goal instead of going for a touchdown, or opt for an extra point after scoring said touchdown. Unlike international football (soccer), the ball needs to go over the bar in order to make a valid score.

Fans routinely keep track on college football news regarding their favorite teams and look up college football polls. The Internet has proven to be an important and indispensable venue for both fans and players to exchange information on college football news and college football polls. D1Athletes offers them a place to build an online presence and interact in online communities.

Sports Recruiting 101 - Become the Recruiter

If you have outstanding athletic ability, solid academics, and it is your dream to be recruited by to play sports in college you need to turn the tables and be the recruiter. It would be a big mistake not to be proactive early for 99% of high school athletes. Start doing your research in your sophomore year in high school. In the major sports like football, basketball, soccer, baseball, tennis and golf there are hundreds of potential opportunities. You have lots of decisions to make and a lot of research to do. Part of your research involves asking a lot of the right questions. Questions like, what does your program and school have to offer me? You can ask a question like that if you got game and you have knowledge of the team needs, among other insights. Don’t just pick a school because you saw them on TV or you like their logo.

If it’s your dream school or bust then you are of the wrong mind-set. There are so many things that can go wrong even if the coach said you are a lock to get a scholarship. You need to have a back-up plan by researching a number of other schools. I suggest that you have a list of say 25 schools to focus in on. Looking at the big picture taking everything into consideration, and I mean everything, ask yourself what matters most. To spark thought, some of the things to consider may be weather, geographic location, athletic facilities and more important the graduation rate of student athletes.

Your research may include going to college fairs, taking virtual tours, talking to other students, talking to your counselor, your friends and of course your family. When doing your research keep in mind that bigger is not necessarily better for several reasons and in many cases. Consider all levels of play. The more knowledge you have about a given school and it’s athletic program, the better questions you can ask yourself and the college recruiter. Bottom line is, and coming full circle, the better prepared you are in every way the better chance you have to be the recruiter and not the recruit. Knowledge is power!

Athletic Recruiting - Myths and Lies That Will Keep You From …

Do you Dream of getting a College Athletic Scholarship? Do you know anything about athletic recruiting? Do you know how to go about getting an athletic scholarship? Have you heard that it is tough to land that prized college athletic scholarship?

Well, the truth is it isn’t easy, but it is doable. In fact, tens of thousands do it every year. Is it worth the time, effort, and energy it takes to get one? ABSOLUTELY!

Myth #1… You are not an Elite Athlete, so you can’t get a college athletic scholarship This is pure bunk!

Sure, there are some blue chip athletes that do get hounded by the college coaches; the coaches visit, the letters come, the scholarship offers are made, and there is a big time TV signing event.

This all happens without the athlete doing anything but playing his/her sport. This is very RARE!

But, what if you are not a ‘blue chip’ elite athlete? Should you throw in the towel and consider your sports career over? Absolutely not! The vast majority of college athletes are NOT ‘blue chip’ athletes.

Myth #2…You live in a small town where there isn’t much athletic recruiting, so you can’t get a scholarship. Don’t believe this garbage either!

If you live in a rural area or a small town, it is more difficult to get the attention of the college coaches. However, you will still have many opportunities to get noticed in the arena of athletic recruiting.

Participate in camps at colleges where you would eventually like to play. Perform well in tournaments, games against larger schools, and championship games.

Myth #3 …I’m not as good as the college athletes I see on TV, so I can’t compete at the college level. Just more pure rubbish! YES, you can and here’s why.

The majority of the college athletes you see on television are NCAA Division I athletes; this is the most competitive level of college athletics.

There are plenty of athletic scholarships to be had in the NCAA Division II, III, NAIA, and Junior College schools.

Myth #4… I don’t know anything about Athletic Recruiting or Scholarships For Sports, so I can’t get one of those sought after College School Athletic Scholarships.

The truth is, the worst thing you can do in any situation is to do NOTHING. Educate yourself about athletic recruiting and find out what you can do to help yourself get recruited.

Myth #5 … It costs a ton of money to get myself recruited, and I just don’t have the bucks. It’s true, there are several athletic recruiting companies that charge several thousand dollars to help athletes get a scholarship.

However, most families do not have this kind of money to pay a company that will hopefully help their son or daughter get recruited.

Thankfully, there is a website that is giving away a FREE e-Book, "How To Get A College Athletic Scholarship". It details everything a college bound student athlete MUST do in order to be recruited.

It was written by an NCAA Division I Full-Ride Scholarship recipient who also received numerous other athletic scholarship offers in three additional sports.

If your brain is a buzz with Sports Recruiting, Scholarships For Sports, or High School Athletic Scholarships, take a few moments to download this FREE e-Book. With this information, you’ll be light years ahead of your competition and well on your way to the College Athletic Scholarship of your dreams.

College Football Recruiting

College recruiting involves many sports, among them college football. College football is a popular sport in the USA. Therefore, for many students looking for college scholarships, college football recruiting is an important process.

American football, known in the United States and Canada simply as football is a competitive team sport known for mixing strategy with physical play. The objective of the game is to score points by advancing the ball into the opposing team’s end zone. The winner is the team with the most points when the time expires.

Interestingly, in American football, the ball is seldom propelled by kicking. Instead, it is usually brought into the end zone by running or passing. Running the ball occurs when the football is passed to a player (also known as a "hand-off") after which that player runs with the ball. This kind of play is often successful when the defense has its players a good distance away from the runner, or when the offense’s players manage to block the defensive players away from the player holding the ball.

Passing in football simply means the ball is handed over from one offensive player to another. A pass is only considered "complete" when the player catches the ball. Balls that land on the ground are called "incomplete passes," while balls stolen by the defense from an offensive pass are called "interceptions."

Countless high school students, possessing skill and talent in football and other sports, are looking forward to a college future with the help of college sports scholarships. Football Recruiting and Sports Scholarships

College football is one of the most popular sports in the USA. Students across the country try out in football recruiting, hoping to get a sports scholarship, and, from there, perhaps even participate in professional teams.

The objective of the game is to score points by getting the ball into the opposing team’s court, or end zone.

Each team has 11 players on the field, usually comprised of a quarter back (considered the team leader), two additional players positioned behind the quarterback (known as the fullback and the tailback), five players in front of the quarter back (making up the offensive line), and three receivers on either side of the offensive line (called tight end, split end, and flanker). The player in the center position of the linemen is the center. The defensive team, on the other hand, is formed with four linemen in front, three line backers in the rear, and four defensive backs even further back, or off to the sides who are called corner backs and safeties.

Before the start of the play, the offensive team comes together in what is called a huddle to decide which play to use. Playing strategies are often selected by the coaching staff, who in turn radio in their choice to the quarter back, who then relays it to his teammates. The defensive team might also huddle to select its own strategy to use for the next play. The athletes then come up to what is known as the line of scrimmage. This is an imaginary line stretching from one side of the field to the other through the tip of the football closest to the defense. Each team remains on their own side of the line of scrimmage until the play begins.

Since the financial crisis hit the markets, more and more students pursing a college degree are searching for ways to pay off the expenses. Many are looking into sports scholarships as a means to help in advancing their college education. The Internet has proven to be an important and indispensable venue for both athletes and coaches in the football recruiting process. There are many websites and online forums wherein students and scouts can interact and share information in football recruiting and sports scholarships. D1Athletes offers them a place to build an online presence and gain important public exposure.
